she could if she tried -

to find peace within herself 

but every now & again 

i catch her

standing besides herself - 

with the bag of her emotions 

like her heart upon her sleeve - 

covered up for a soul not to see

but she likes it that way,

she knows she could if she tried 

but it took years for this

tragedy to happen - 

oh & it'll take

years more to undue

but here's something i know to be true

may god strike me dead

that girl could if she tried
